Man Eavesdropping, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of a man eavesdropping next to a door. He tilts his head to the side with a frown as he listens, one hand resting atop the hilt of his sword. He wears a dark blue kimono patterned with stylized butterflies made from blossoms over a red under robe, a blue towel wrapped about his neck. With this other hand he lifts the hem of his kimono, which is lined with green fabric. A nicely detailed subject.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 9 3/8"

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Vertical center fold, now flattened. A few small holes, repaired, blends well. Soiling, slight creasing. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
