Adachi was one of the most respected publishers of the 20th century. Their woodblocks were printed to the highest standards with excellent color and fine detail. Founded in 1925, Adachi also chose interesting and varied subjects for their prints and was the only publisher of many famous old ukiyo-e images.

Comments - Lovely portrait of the actor Takenaka Shodayu in the role of a beauty, wearing a black lacquer hat and holding a slender walking stick. Beautifully colored kimono decorated with chrysanthemums, bamboo, and leaves in warm tones of orange and golden yellow. A handsome design from the early years of lacquer prints. This extra large format will make for a stunning display in any room.
