Tea House Waitress with Cup Stand Kakemono, circa 1830 - 1840

Comments - Attractive kakemono or vertical diptych of a tea house waitress carrying a black lacquer cup stand. Her brown kimono is patterned with tiny olive green gourds, and she lifts her red and green geometric print apron as she walks along on tall wooden geta sandals, a dotted towel draped over her arm. Her hair is arranged in a smooth bun adorned with a lacquer comb and decorative hairpins, a few loose wisps framing her face. A charming design and a lovely choice for display.

Artist - Eisen (1790 - 1848)

Image Size - 28 3/4" x 9 3/4"

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Two panels, attached at the seams and backed with thin paper. Lightly toned throughout with a few wormholes and areas of thinning, repaired with backing paper. Faint wrinkling throughout with one horizontal crease running through subject. Slight rubbing and spotting surrounding subject. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
