Moon Viewing in a Garden, 1891

Comments - Charming scene of beauties and a young girl enjoying a moonlit evening in a garden alongside a stream. One woman relaxes with a pipe on a bench at right, her companion pausing to adjust a hairpin. At left, the girl gestures happily as pedestrians stroll across a narrow bridge connecting pavilions on two small islands, with a waterfall behind them flowing into the pond. The full moon is reflected on the shimmering water below, and a few willow branches gracefully frame the scene. Beautifully colored and detailed, with soft shading in the sky and fine embossing in the white kimono trim. A lovely choice for display.
