Series; Famous Views of the Eastern Capital

Tea Stands at a Shrine, 1854 - Attractive scene of tea stands on a hilltop alongside a shrine. Patrons relax on benches beneath the roofed stalls, enjoying the view of the rooftops stretching out across the city below. A shrine building frames the image at right, with a few white sails dotting the blue sea beyond. Nicely colored.

Artist - Hiroshige (1797 - 1858)

Image Size - 8 1/2" x 13 1/4" + margins

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Lightly toned throughout and backed with thin paper. One considerable stain in center of panel. Minor spotting and soiling in subject with rubbing along edges. A few small holes in subject and margins, repaired from reverse with backing paper. Slight remnants from previous mounting on reverse. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
