Beauties and Mandarin Ducks

Series; Inner Chiyoda Palace (Chiyoda no Ooku)

Beauties and Mandarin Ducks - Charming Chikanobu triptych depicting a group of young beauties on a verandah after a late spring snow. The shoreline and a nearby blossoming plum tree are covered with a light layer of snow and a pair of mandarin ducks swims just offshore. The standing woman wears a lovely coat shaded from violet to pink and patterned with seashells over a pale green kimono bordered with leaves and flowers. Nicely detailed with soft shading in the water and embossing in the white kimono collars. One of the less commonly seen designs from this beautiful series.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 28" x 14"

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Three separate panels, backed with old paper. Some rubbing, soiling and toning at edges. A few light spots in subject as shown. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
