Hideyoshi and His Family

Series; The New Biography of Toyotomi Hideyoshi

Hideyoshi and His Family - Handsome scene of Hideyoshi meeting with his family in a castle that he received as a gift from Oda Nobunaga. He sits at left, leaning forward with a slightly dazed expression as his family eagerly congratulates him. He wears a purple kimono with the paulownia family crest on his sleeve and shoulders, the same design that appears on the robes of his elderly mother and young man in green, his half brother Toyotomi Hidenaga. The young beauty is his sister, and the man in blue is Kaji Takumi Gorosuke, a relative of Hideyoshi's wife. The room beyond the figures opens onto a porch overlooking the countryside, with a flock of birds flying overhead. The blue kimono at right is partially coated with a glittering pigment. Nice detail in the hairstyles and expressive faces.
