Hideyoshi and Shibata Katsuie

Series; The New Biography of Toyotomi Hideyoshi

Hideyoshi and Shibata Katsuie - Interesting scene of three men in court dress in an interior, with Hideyoshi massaging the lower back of Shibata Katsuie, who is sprawled out across the floor. Katsuie glares over his shoulder at him, supporting himself on one elbow. Sakuma Morimasa sits at left, likewise scowling at Hideyoshi, who appears a bit startled by this angry reaction. A beautiful screen at right features a butterflies flitting around colorful red blossoms. An intriguing situation with very expressive figures.
