Seaside Confrontation, 1856

Comments - Fantastic kabuki scene of a confrontation taking place at a home along the shore. A man stands in the doorway grimacing angrily, having just pushed a visitor to the ground with his outstretched hand. His caller reacts with alarm, thrusting out his hand in self-defense, a worried expression on his face. His sword lies useless and bent on the ground beside him, the blade curved. The beauty inside reacts with concern, throwing her hands out at her sides. A large anchor tied to a coil of heavy rope sits outside the door, waves splashing on the sand at left. Three circular insets feature additional characters from the play, each warrior dressed in full armor. A fascinating subject with wonderful color and a great setting.
