Original Nobukazu (1874 - 1944) Japanese Woodblock Print
Meiji Emperor Arriving at the National Diet

Comments - Handsome depiction of the Emperor arriving at the National Diet Building. He stands before an elegant carriage topped with a golden phoenix at right, wearing a fine military uniform with a silver sash across the chest and a cap topped with a plume. Other dignitaries in similar dress greet him as he arrives, with soldiers on horseback at left. The modern stone and glass building stretches out across the background, the sky framed by tall pine trees. A great image with wonderful detail and attractive color, including burnishing in the black uniforms and soft bokashi shading in the sky and ground.

Artist - Nobukazu (1874 - 1944)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 28 1/8" + margins

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Three panels, not attached at the seams and lightly toned along edges. A few minor stains and areas of spotting in margins. A couple small tears at corners, repaired from reverse with faint creasing and soiling in subject. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
