Resting to View the Flowers at Horaitei, Ikenohata, circa 1835 - 1838 - Lovely image of beauties and girls relaxing on the verandah of the Horaitei Teahouse in Ikenohata. The women enjoy the view of a blossoming plum tree below and an expansive view of Shinobazu Pond. The children play in the center, a young girl trying to grab a woodblock print from a companion while another sneaks up behind her friend, blindfolding her with her hands. A charming design form this rarely seen Hiroshige series. The Honolulu (Hawaii) Museum of Art has this image in its collection.

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 8 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail. A vertical crease at center. Some rubbing and soiling at edges. A few small holes and losses repaired from reverse. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
