Cherry Blossom Viewing at Ueno Park, 1881

Comments - Handsome triptych depicting the Meiji Emperor and Empress and members of the court visiting Ueno Park to view the cherry trees in bloom. At center, one of the ladies-in-waiting leads the empress by the hand as another shields her with a Western style umbrella. The women all wear elegant kimono over white robes tucked into full red hakama pants. The emperor stands at right in military dress uniform, looking up at the clouds of softly shaded pink and white blossoms framing the blue sky. A nice spring subject detailed with embossing in the white kimono trim.

Image Size - 27 1/4" x 13 1/2"

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Three separate panels. Backed with old paper. Some light toning at edges. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
