Mount Fuji from Mizukubo, circa 1936

6 mm Watanabe Reprint - This beautiful woodblock was published by the Watanabe Company and bears the important Watanabe round 6 mm seal. These old Watanabe prints are some of the finest woodblock reprints ever done. Watanabe began using the 6 mm seal after World War II ended, and it was in use from 1946 to 1957. These terrific Watanabe reprints are a wonderful way to collect a masterwork from the Edo era at an affordable price.

Comments - Striking view of Mt. Fuji seen from Mizukubo, the village in the foreground in dark blue and gray shadows. The snow capped peak of Mt. Fuji rises at upper left, softly glowing white in the early morning, the base wreathed in clouds. A faint warm glow comes from the windows of few houses, providing a sense of human scale to the landscape. A dramatic perspective that adds to the powerful beauty of this sacred mountain. A fantastic design by Shotei. A later edition from the original blocks, published between 1946 - 1957.

Artist - Shotei (1871 - 1945)

Image Size - 9 3/8" x 14 1/2" + margins as shown
