New Year's Day Greeting - Lovely scene of a woman greeting a beauty at New Year's. She kneels respectfully at left as the beauty smiles at her warmly. She wears an elegant purple coat over a delicately embossed white outer robe patterned with young pine trees, and flowing red hakama pants that trail on the floor beneath her feet. Large mochi cakes (rice cakes) are stacked upon an offering tray with greenery and topped with a miniature pine tree, a traditional offering for the New Year holiday. A smaller tray holds graduated red lacquer sake cups. Beautifully detailed with burnishing in the hair and additional embossing in the guest's kimono. A beautiful Chikanobu triptych with a subtle pattern across the background.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 28 1/8"

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Some wrinkling and creasing in subject as shown. Slightly toned. Some soiling and a few spots. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
