Series; Customs and Manners, 1897

Shuntei's Customs and Manners - Lovely design from Shuntei's 1897 series depicting the "Customs and Manners" of women. Each print features beauties engaged in everyday activities, from admiring a view of the moon to strolling through a garden, styling the hair or catching fireflies. Beautifully composed and attractively colored, these serene images provide a look at the traditional lifestyle of upper-class ladies in Japan. Nicely detailed with soft shading, many include deluxe treatments such as burnishing or embossing.

Image Size - 8 1/4" x 12 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Lightly toned throughout with a few small holes along right-hand margin, repaired from reverse. Faint spotting and soiling in subject and margins. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
