Tattooed Suikoden Heroes Dueling, 1883

Comments - Dramatic kabuki scene of two tattooed heroes from the Suikoden dueling. At left Kyumonryu Shishin, whose nickname is "Nine Tattooed Dragons," strikes a blow with a long wooden pole, his hair flying wildly around his face as his leans back. The "Flower Priest" Rochishin counter the attack with a large club, gripping his weapon with both hands. His black priest's robes are pushed down to the waist to reveal a full body tattoo of red cherry blossoms, a string of green prayer beads draped around his torso. Gusts of wind sweep across the scene, with large peony blossoms framing the image at right. From left, the actors are Onoe Kikugoro V and Nakamura Shikan VI. Amazing color and detail in this fantastic design, with large colorful figures and a great dynamic composition. A fantastic choice for a collector interested in tattoo prints.
