Comments - Fantastic triptych of the Meiji Emperor and ladies of the court aboard a magnificent boat with a rooster at the prow. The emperor stands in front of the cabin, dressed in an elegant military uniform and plumed hat. Two golden dragons top the colorful ship, which is decorated with a row of purple chrysanthemums along the edge. Blossoming cherry trees frame the scene overhead and dot the opposite shore. A great historical image with lively color and attractive detail.

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Three panels, not attached at the seams. Light creasing and wrinkling throughout with a few areas of soiling in subject and margins. Slight rubbing near edges and faint spotting in subject. A few areas of thinning and fraying along edges. A couple small holes repaired from reverse with one small stain in right-hand panel.
