Distressed Beauty and Samurai on a Verandah

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a distressed beauty and two samurai on a verandah. She twists a cloth anxiously between her hands as she stares over her shoulder, her mouth slightly agape. The samurai at right glares ahead angrily, gripping his sword upright as a flock of sparrows descends towards the meal waiting on an elegant lacquer tray. Another man kneels at left watching the woman with a distraught grimace. Delicate white plum blossoms frame the pale blue sky above. From left, the actors are Sanmasu Gennosuke, Segawa Kikunojo as the wife Tsukisayo, and Nakamura Shikan. Attractively colored with expressive figures.

Image Size - 30 1/4" x 15 3/4"
