Shirabyoshi Dancer and Monks, 1864

Comments - Handsome triptych depicting a shirabyoshi dancer performing for a pair of monks. A group of female musicians accompany her, two of them holding small hand drums and one with a flute. A large temple bell hangs overhead at right, and a screen patterned with a pine tree fills the background. Beautiful detail in the kimono fabrics, which feature cherry blossoms and other plants. The white robes of the monks are delicately embossed. An intriguing scene.

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Three panels, not attached at the seams. A few small wormholes, loss along right edge of right panel, repaired, blends well. Slight soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
