Courtesans in the Yoshiwara

Comments - Attractive scene of elegantly dressed courtesans strolling through the Yoshiwara. The beauty at right wears a red print outer robe tied with a dragon obi. Her companion's purple outer kimono features a carp leaping up a waterfall. Behind them, a fence encloses a garden with flowering shrubs beneath blossoming cherry trees. Nice vibrant color.

Artist - Fusatane (active circa 1850 - 1870)

Image Size - 12 7/8" x 8 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color as shown. Horizontal and vertical center fold. One small hole, repaired, blends well. Slight creasing and soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
