Onoe Kikujiro II as Hikiroku's Daughter Hamaji, 1852

Comments - Attractive portrait of Onoe Kikujiro II as Hamaji, the daughter of village headman Hikiroku. She is shown eavesdropping outside a doorway, sliding the panel open and tilting her head as she listens. Her kimono is shaded from gray to rose, with a pattern of embossed white flowers and colorful medallions, tied with a black obi that reverses to a red tie-dyed print. Her hair is pulled back into a smooth bun, adorned with a red lacquer comb, hairpins, and ribbons. A handsome design, nicely colored and detailed.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 9 7/8" x 14 1/4" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Some light wrinkling and toning at edges. A couple small holes repaired from reverse. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
