Battle of Kawanakajima, 1868

Comments - Handsome scene from the Battle of Kawanakajima showing Uesugi Shingen and his troops massed along the edge of the river. Shingen sits on a black lacquer stool, wearing a green robe over his armor and a monk's cowl around his battle helmet. His retainers are gathered around him in full armor, gripping swords and spears. A large fringed standard topped with a paulownia crest rises high above the men next to a banner with the same symbol. Nice detail in the expressive figures, armor and weapons.

Artist - Kunitsuna II (1823 - 1880)

Image Size - 9 7/8" x 14 1/8" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail. A horizontal crease at center. Some rubbing and soiling at edges. Some light creasing. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
