Courtesan with a Peacock Kimono Kakemono

Comments - Striking kakemono or vertical diptych of a courtesan wearing an elegant kimono with a peacock design on the back. She stands with her back to the viewer to showcase the full design. Her obi features large peony blossoms, and she wears several layers of robes trimmed with brocade. Her hair is adorned with decorative floral hairpins and a green ribbon, and she wears fashionable two-color lipstick, her lower lip a shade of green. A great Edo era beauty design with wonderful detail in the peacock's feathers.

Artist - Eisen (1790 - 1848)

Image Size - 9 3/4" x 28 7/8"

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Two separate panels. Toned as shown. Some rubbing and soiling in subject. A few small holes repaired from reverse. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
