We were fortunate to be able to select a small number of fine pieces from the collection of this prominent Japanese print dealer. The prints in this offering are particularly good, rare and desirable designs that this dealer had set aside for his personal collection. We chose prints that we knew would appeal to Fuji Arts clients. Take some time to explore this fine, small group. These designs are rarely offered!

Chichibu Shoji Shigetada Carrying His Horse, 1855 - Incredible depiction of the warrior Chichibu Shoji Shigetada carrying his blindfolded horse on his back. According to legend, while attacking the Taira stronghold at Ichi-no-Tani, Yoshitsune's troops needed to descend the steep slope of Hiyodorigoe to mount a surprise attack. To avoid possible injury to his horse, Shigetada lifted the animal onto his shoulders and carried it down the hill. He frowns sternly as he picks his way down the rocky hill, gripping the horse's front legs over his shoulder. Three armored retainers watch in astonishment at this amazing feat of strength. A fantastic image of this legendary episode from the life of a great warrior, with beautiful color and detail, and fine shading in the sky. A fine design for "Kiritsubo" (Paulownia Court), Chapter 1.
