Original 19th century Japanese Woodblock Print
Portraits of Noblemen and Beauties

Comments - Interesting design featuring four small portraits. At upper left, a Heian era beauty looks back over her shoulder soberly, her robes trailing onto the floor behind her. At upper right, a seated nobleman stares back at her, wearing an elegant brocade kimono with a pleated collar. Below, a man in a pale blue kamishimo and formal court cap looks up at a woman holding a cased sword in her hand. Nicely detailed and colored.

Artist - 19th century artist (unsigned)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 9 1/2" + margin

Condition - With excellent color and detail. A couple small losses at bottom corners of print with a few pinpoint holes and tears along edges, all repaired from reverse. Lightly toned throughout with some faint rubbing and staining near edges. Minor soiling with a few spots in subject. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
