Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Courtesan Waving a Greeting

Comments - Attractive image of a courtesan standing on an upper story verandah, waving a greeting to a friend below. She smiles happily, lifting a lamp high with her other hand. She wears a red tie-dyed kimono bordered with a brown floral print, tied with a tan obi that reverses to a black print. Her hair is elegantly arranged in two large loops, adorned with many decorative hairpins and combs. A handsome design with a nicely detailed setting and faint embossing in the red tie-dyed cloth.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 10"

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Some minor stains in subject and at corners. Light spotting in subject and fading at lower right corner. A few small holes at corner repaired from reverse. Light wrinkling throughout with slight fraying along edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
