Girls' Day and Doll Festival - Beautiful Chikanobu triptych of Girls' Day festivities in an upper-class home.Traditionally, Girls' Day involved praying for the health and happiness of daughters as well as the display of hina dolls at the homes of Japanese girls. At right, a large tiered display holds rows of dolls representing the Emperor and Empress and members of the court, along with offerings. Three women prepare the display and a special meal for the young girls who will be celebrating. Includes burnishing in the hair and black kimono. A lovely design and a great subject for a collector interested in Japanese festivals or hina dolls.

Image Size - 14" x 28"

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Three panels, not attached at the seams with some remnants from previous backing on reverse. One loss at top left corner of center panel repaired from reverse. A couple areas of thinning with light spotting and rubbing in subject. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
