Watching a Festival

Series; Inner Chiyoda Palace (Chiyoda no Ooku)

Watching a Festival - Wonderful triptych of young palace beauties watching a festival parade from a verandah screened with reed blinds. The ladies kneel around trays of fruit and sweets, chatting and gesturing at the giant rooster float going past. Beautiful color and detail in this attractive woodblock, with fine embossing on the white kimono trim and rooster's feathers. Would make a lovely display.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 27 1/2" x 14"

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Three separate panels. Backed with old paper. Some light offsetting in subject. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
