Samurai Writing a Letter

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Ebizo as a samurai writing a letter, crouching on the floor next to a writing set. He holds a brush in one hand, the long letter partially hidden behind his back in his other hand. He looks up with a scowl as if surprised in the act of writing. He wears a blue kamishimo over a tan kimono, his hair pulled into a knot at the back of his head. Yellow blossoms cover a shrub at left, with white clouds drifting across the pale blue sky behind him. An attractive design, nicely colored.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 5/8" x 10"

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. A few wormholes and small holes, repaired, blends well. Creasing throughout, slight soiling, faint stain at top right corner. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
