A Special Ukiyo-e Group -   Terrific woodblock print from a group of ukiyo-e designs originally sold by Hara Shobo of Tokyo. The venerable print dealer Hara Shobo has been in business for more than seventy years. Each design comes with a small label from the dealer identifying the artist and subject. A great opportunity to purchase a classic ukiyo-e subject by a master artist with an interesting provenance.

Styling Hair with a Full-length Mirror - Attractive image of a woman styling a beauty's hair, kneeling behind her as she combs through the long locks. The beauty sits behind a mirror on a stand, a lacquer chest nearby holding combs, a brush, and other tools. Outside, a dipper rests across the top of a rustic wooden water basin. Beautifully drawn with fine line work and wonderful detail. A classic Edo era beauty subject.

Artist - Sukenobu (1671 - 1750)

Image Size - 8 7/8" x 6 3/4" + margins

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Light spotting throughout and backed with thin paper. Slight rubbing near edges with a small area of thinning in lower left corner. A few small worm holes in margins with some faint soiling along bottom edge. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
