Puzzled Man, 1857 by Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Puzzled Man, 1857

Comments - Handsome kabuki scene of a puzzled man kneeling in his bed, scratching his head as he looks up, perhaps awakened by a sound. He clutches his striped kimono about his waist, the covers hurriedly pushed back behind him. His sleeping area is enclosed with tall folding screens patterned with a tree scene, an owl perched on a vine appearing to look down at him. An intriguing subject with a handsome composition, nicely detailed.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 9 1/2" x 14 1/4"

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Toned at edges. Some rubbing and soiling. A couple small holes repaired from reverse. Some wrinkling and creasing. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
