Battle of Kawanakajima, 1849 - 1852

Comments - Terrific scene from the Battle of Kawanakajima between the forces of Takeda Shingen at left and Uesugi Kenshin at right. One of Shingen's trusted "Twenty-four Generals," Yamamato Kansuke distinguished himself during the fight, leading to a victory for his side. In the center, Kansuke lifts an enemy above his head from astride a brown horse, ready to hurl him to the ground with one hand. With his other hand, he slashes at a passing enemy with his sword, Clouds of smoke drift across the battlefield, with weapons and banners visible in the distance and samurai fight on horseback and on foot. A fantastic design filled with energy and action, with beautiful bokashi shading and wonderful detail in the expressive faces, armor, and weapons.
