Travelers Stopping for a Rest

Comments - Handsome kabuki triptych depicting three travelers stopping for a rest along the way. The beauty at left sits in a palanquin with a pipe in hand, looking up at her male companion as he gestures with a fan. She wears a sheer black kimono tied with a deep green obi, a towel draped over one shoulder and a comb slipping loose from the side of her head. The man frowns at her unhappily as he lifts the hem of his blue print. At right, another woman stands beside her palanquin, resting her hand atop the pole, a dismayed expression on her face. Her green kimono is patterned with dragonflies and tied with a pink obi with irises on it. Umbrellas and bundles are tied atop both palanquins. An interesting subject with expressive faces and attractive color.
