Nakamura Shikan as Inada Kozo, 1861

Comments - Interesting nighttime scene of Nakamura Shikan as the samurai Inada Kozo, pausing to tie a white sash around his upper arm. He uses his teeth to pull one end tight while resting on his knee, his swords at this side. The corner of a wooden well can be seen at right, along with a large paper lantern patterned with a crane family crest on it. A handsome atmospheric image, detailed with burnishing in the black robe and fine bokashi shading in the sky.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 9 5/8" x 14"

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Some minor rubbing and soiling at edges. A few small holes repaired from reverse. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
