Gathering Shellfish, 1855

Comments - Terrific view of beauties gathering shellfish at low tide. In the center, a beauty looks up over her shoulder with a clam in hand while the woman behind her reaches excitedly for a fish jumping out of the water. A beauty stands on a pleasure boat at left, watching the activity as her companion wades through the water carrying a basket and an umbrella. A few small boats are moored near the shore at right, with larger ships in the deeper water in the distance. A fantastic Hiroshige triptych, wonderfully detailed and colored. Would make an attractive framed presentation.

Artist - Hiroshige (1797 - 1858)

Image Size - 28 3/4" x 14 1/4" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Three separate panels. A few small holes and losses repaired from reverse. Some light wrinkling and rubbing at edges. A few light spots. Slightly toned. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
