Peacock and Peonies, 1843 - 1847

Comments - Handsome Hiroshige pillar print featuring an elegant peacock posed among large peony blossoms. Wonderful detail in the carefully drawn feathers with soft shading in the background. A striking kacho-e or birds and flowers subject by Hiroshige, also in the collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Image Size - 13 3/8" x 4 1/4"

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse near corners from previous folio mounting. Horizontal center fold, now flattened. A few small holes, small tear at center, repaired, blends well. Toning, slight soiling and wrinkling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
