Utamaro's "The Female Occupation of Sericulture" - This is a beautiful Meiji reprint set of Utamaro's silk production series produced in the Meiji era. This series depicts every step along the way of producing silk. These prints depict gathering moth eggs and mulberry leaves, preparation of larvae in trays, women gathering and boiling the cocoons, and finally weaving the silk on a loom. This is a fantastic group of prints for a collector interested in Utamaro's rarest subjects.  A complete original set is impossible to find in the market today, this beutiful Meji set is an excellent affordable alternative.

These prints are full oban, beautifully printed and very finely detailed. They closely replicate Utamaro's original prints. As a Meiji era set, these prints have a lovely sense of age, reminiscent of an original 19th century Edo era print. This extremely rare set fits together end to end to form an enormous 12 panel print! A stunning and classic Utamaro series.
