Beauties at a Teahouse

Comments - Wonderful scene of a group of beauties at a teahouse, enjoying the evening air from a verandah overlooking a garden pond. An arched wooden walkway leads over the water to a bathhouse where a customer soaks in a hot tub while another has his back scrubbed by an attendant. At left, a woman reads a long letter, smiling as she looks down, a companion kneeling at her feet holding a fan. Lanterns with flickering candles hang over head, and pine trees frame the view inside the courtyard. A lovely subject with wonderful architectural detail and a charming garden setting.

Artist - Kunisada II (1823 - 1880)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 27 3/4"
