Series; Lessons for the Hot Springs

Lessons for the Hot Springs - Amusing 20th century design from a series by the cartoonist and illustrator Tamotsu Nagai depicting proper etiquette for visiting Japan's famous hot springs, published by the Japan Spa Association. Most of the images depict someone displaying bad manners and illustrating how not to behave. For example, one print shows a man shaving in a public bath, while another features a woman splashing water on other patrons, and a third depicts two men drinking on public transportation while on the way to the spa. The scenes are drawn with lively line work highlighted with a few colors, and each includes text in Japanese. An interesting and unusual humorous series.
