The New Mint in Shiba

Series; Fine Views of Edo

The New Mint in Shiba - Interesting view of the imposing entrance gate to the new mint in Shiba, with stone walls extending the length of the street. At left, a few itinerant musicians wander along, while a daimyo's procession approaches from the opposite direction. A few dogs play in the middle of the street, and a display of umbrellas and paper lanterns for sale frames the view at right. Nicely colored and shaded. An unusual subject to find in reprint.

Artist - Hiroshige (1797 - 1858)

Image Size - 8 7/8" x 13 1/4" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
