Prince Genji in Bed

Comments - Interesting portrait of Prince Genji relaxing in bed, looking up with a rather suspicious expression as he holds an ornate pipe. He wears an elegant robe with a pleated collar, his hair tied into a topknot with the ends parted above his forehead. A fancy tobacco stand sits beside the bed, and a low folding screen patterned with a blossoming plum tree provides privacy. The sliding shoji panel at left opens onto a wintry view of a snow-covered landscape. An attractively color and detailed design.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 10" x 14 1/4" + margins as shown
