Original Kunisada II (1823 - 1880) Japanese Woodblock Print
Bando Hikosaburo as Gennosuke, 1856

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of Bando Hikosaburo as Gennosuke, washing his hands in a basin of water on the floor. He stretches out his hands as someone prepares to pour a dipper of water over them, looking up with a slightly suspicious frown. He wears a black kimono over a gray floral print robe and red under robe, his hair pulled back into a neat topknot. An intricately patterned folding screen stands at right, and the sliding panel at left is decorated with woodblock prints. A nicely detailed setting.

Artist - Kunisada II (1823 - 1880)

Image Size - 9 3/8" x 13 3/4"

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Backed with old paper. A number of small wormholes and losses repaired from reverse. Some light rubbing and soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
