Original 19th century Japanese Woodblock Print
Workers Maneuvering a Sign

Comments - Unusual kabuki scene of workers holding lines attached to what appears to be a large sign on the roof of a theater, maneuvering it into place. Most of the men (and one woman) wear informal blue cotton kimono, tugging at the ropes from different angles. At upper left, three men sitting on a cloud watch the operation below, one scratching his head in a puzzled manner. An interesting an intriguing subject with nice expressive figures.
