From a Beautiful Shin-hanga Commemorative Set -

We are very excited to offer a fine group of shin-hanga beauties from a single publisher's release of shin-hanga wood block masterworks. With the permission of the original's artist's heirs, the venerable Ishukankokai publishing company was commissioned to release a strictly limited edition of 100 sets with 12 prints each of masterwork shin-hanga beauty woodblocks. The Ishukankokai company set about producing an incredible reprint set of these designs with exact detail and color. The prints were produced on the finest handmade paper available. Expert carvers were contracted to produce the highest quality wood blocks and printers meticulously reprinted these bijin originals with the same attention to quality and detail and in keeping with the artist's excellent original designs. The prints included the technically difficult embellishments of mica backgrounds, embossed detail, and beautiful shaded color. These reprint sets were an immediate hit on the market. Due to the limited edition release of 100 sets total, and the technical difficulty in quality of the prints, they immediately commanded high prices.

With original presentation folder - Each print is being sold with its original presentation folder. The prints are stored in a beautiful inner folder with paper surround and protective liner and a heavy outer folder with subject and series titles in Japanese. Comments - A fantastic shin-hanga portrait by noted artist Shima Seien and a personal favorite. This classic 20th century piece shows an alluring young woman looking at the viewer in a soft cotton bathrobe. The blue and white robe has fallen away from her right shoulder, revealing just a bit of her right breast, which is mostly covered by the washcloth hanging from her mouth -- a seductive view. Her hair is arranged on top of her head in a simple style after the bath. Her cheeks are glowing red from the heat of the water. The background is treated with a lovely, softly shimmering mica detail in a neutral beige and silvered tone. Shima Seien perfectly captures the mood of this young woman immediately after the bath in his classic shin-hanga portrait -- truly a great artist masterwork. This is a very rare shin-hanga portrait to find in an original and also in these fine Yuyudo limited edition reprints. A nice opportunity for the collector. This would make an excellent display any treasure to be enjoyed for a lifetime.
