Series; Six Jewel Rivers

The Chofu Jewel River in Musashi Province, circa 1835 - Lovely design of a beauty washing laundry in the Chofu Jewel River in Musashi Province. She stands on a rock in the swiftly moving river, lifting her robes up to keep them from getting wet. A wooden tub on the shore holds laundry, and a graceful willow trees frames the scene overhead. Rich color and a fine sense of movement in this attractive design. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection.

Artist - Hiroshige (1797 - 1858)

Image Size - 14 1/2" x 5" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Paper remnant on reverse at edges from previous folio mounting. Small loss at upper left edge, a few small holes, repaired, blends well. Soiling, slight rubbing. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
