Goyo Studio Reprints - Hashiguchi Goyo is the undisputed master of the 20th century shin-hanga movement. A secondary part of his career was reprinting beautiful old ukiyo-e designs from the golden age of the Japanese woodblock print. Between 1918 and 1920, much of Goyo’s artistic work was devoted to creating these incredible woodblock reprints of classic ukiyo-e prints. Each image was painstakingly copied from an original and stamped with the Goyo circular seal. Line by line, color by color, the prints were recreated in Goyo’s studio to perfectly emulate these masterworks of ukiyo-e. Goyo took pride in this work and the release of his reprints was met with great acclaim.

Today, original Goyo reprints are highly sought after by collectors and rare to find. This is an exceptional opportunity!

Ochie of the Ko-Iseya at Kobiki-cho, Shin-yashiki - Wonderful, classic Utamaro head and shoulders portrait of the famous young beauty Ochie reading a woodblock print book. She smiles happily as she examines the pictures, her open lips revealing tiny even teeth. A lovely design with fine line work in the hair and a soft shimmering mica background like the original. A rare subject to find in reprint.
