Original Takahara Shunchosai (1772 - 1801) Japanese Woodblock Print
Antique 18th Century Shunga - ca. 1780

Comments - Best known his landscape illustrations, Takahara Shunchosai, a contemporary of Harunobu and Koryusai, also produced just a handful of shunga prints during his lifetime. This original shunga print by Takahara Shunchosai is a very rare piece of 18th century erotica. Produced in the midst of the transition to multi-color printing, these prints were produced in white and partially colored by hand. Any one of these prints would make an excellent addition to a collection of someone interested in ukiyo-e or the shunga in particular.

Artist - Takahara Shunchosai (1772 - 1801)

Image Size - 15" x 5" + margin as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Two panels attached at the seam. Backed with old paper. Slightly curled. Some significant rubbing, soiling and staining in subject as shown. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
