Benkei and Yoshitsune Battling on Gojo Bridge - Terrific illustration of the great battle on Gojo Bridge between the warrior monk, Benkei, and the young Yoshitsune, then known as Ushiwaka. Benkei leaps on one foot, swinging his naginata, but only catches the agile young warrior's cloak. Ushiwaka seems to float in the air behind him, his small figure dwarfed by Benkei's great size. A dramatic composition with the bridge railing at right and the moon low in the sky, visible at the end of the bridge. A great interpretation of this famous duel.
