Series; One Hundred Beautiful Women at Famous Places in Edo

Susaki, 1857 - Attractive image of a beauty enjoying a stroll on a cool day. A green hood is tied around her head with a white sash, and she holds the sleeves of her plaid kimono up to her chest as if trying to keep warm. She wears tall wooden geta sandals, and her black print kimono reverses to a pale gray color. The lush grasses beneath her feet grow over a rocky ledge with water in the distance. The inset above Kunihisa II shows a view of Susaki with buildings along the shore and the sails of ships in the distance. Nicely colored. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection.

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Backed with old paper. Some rubbing and soiling in subject. Some ink offsetting and toning as shown. Some creasing at left edge, flattened when backed. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
