Tea Ceremony

Series; Women's Activities of the Tokugawa Era

Tea Ceremony - Lovely triptych of the time honored Japanese tea ceremony. The beauty at left kneels before a brazier with a pot and bamboo dipper on top. The guests, two women and a young girl, watch the ceremony quietly. Beautiful color and detail in the women's obis and the kimonos of the girls. Subtle geometric designs form a delicate background for the image. Includes burnishing in the hair, and embossing in the white kimono trim. A charming print that would make an attractive framed presentation.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 28 1/8"

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with somewhat stiff paper. Slight creasing along sides of panels. Slight soiling, a few small spots. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
